Welcome, dear reader:
This is Home with Barakah, a corner in this large and busy world. A world where we strive to seek barakah (blessings) through our Islamic teachings. Islam is a comprehensive way of life. And I look forward to sharing content with you on faith (Islam), family, cooking, and simple living. It is important to note that in our quest to learn our faith, we also strive to increase the barakah (blessings) in our lives.
In this space, I hope to offer reflections, recipes, and small shifts that nurture a more peaceful way of living. A way of life that is grounded in gratitude to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’Ala)1 and his barakah (blessings).
Where to Begin?
Islam is a comprehensive way of life. And so before we start with a task, it’s important to ask Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’Ala) to bestow his blessings on us. Through this Dua’a2, a supplication, I ask Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’Ala) to make this current task easy and to remove the impediment from my speech (in this case, my writing!).
This is a favorite: A dua’a that we learn from the Quran, where Moses is asking Allah to:
{رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي * وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي * وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي * يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي}
“My Lord! Uplift my heart for me, and make my task easy, and remove the impediment from my tongue so people may understand my speech.”
Ta-Ha (20:25-28), — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran
What Areas Do We Focus On?
There is so much going on in our lives these days, so many resources and so many applications. Every single one is vying for your attention.
With that in mind, I decided to create a space where I can share what I’ve learned and continue to do so. Islam is a part of our every day life, from the moment we wake up to the moment we place our heads on the pillow.
Through this blog, I will focus on these four areas where barakah (blessings) can be the goal:
- Reflecting on faith (Islam) and how we increase it’s presence.
- Family: this includes parenting, homeschooling, and motherhood
- Cooking: recipes for baking, drinks, main dishes.
- Simple living: gearing towards minimalism from the Islamic perspective and tying it with the concept of Tazkiyah3 .
For Example:
This space is where I can share our journey in raising and educating our children a little differently — with the hope it brings encouragement to others walking a similar path. In addition, I want to have an opportunity to answer questions for you, dear reader, as you may be going through the same season of life that I am.
Last but not least, I hope to offer reflections and small shifts that nurture a more peaceful way of living—one grounded in gratitude to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’Ala) and his barakah (blessings).
What to Expect from me?
First, I look forward to sharing content with you on faith (Islam), family, cooking, and simple living.
